Tapered Roller Bearing Source

Post by Kenneth Enborg » Tue Feb 26, 2002 7:26 pm

Please forgive me from intruding on the steering box debate. I am doing the front axle conversion on my '36 TA from ball to tapered roller bearings. My local NAPA auto parts store ( Michigan) had one of the bearings (Timken#07097) and the races (Timken# 07204) at quite reasonable prices but did not have the other bearing (Timken# 07079). Do any of you know a US source? Ken Enborg

Hi Ken, He should be able to order it. Or go to a bearing supplier directly. You can also use SKF or FAG 30205 inner brg ( 25 mm bore ) and 30304 ( 20 mm bore ) outer brg. SKF and FAG supply cup and cone as a set. Ken - if you have any trouble getting this American invention in America, I will happily supply from sleepy little Olde England. Always have a few in stock. PLS let me know how much you have to pay over the counter, I might be able to better it (inc. post) I am also going to make a small batch of longer spacers for the taper set-up. ocTagonally TCRoger
