Beautiful MGA

Post by Al Moss » Sat Feb 02, 2002 2:42 pm

Dear MG Friends. I recently attended the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale and came upon the most beautiful re-bodied MGA ever seen. I am enclosing three photos so you can look and drool over this rare masterpiece. I just checked the results and it did not sell but the high bid was $15,200 (plus tax and buyers fees). It is called a Savoy Roadster????

I have seen that car in person when it was offered for sale in Connecticut last year. Let's just say that "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder. Badge

C'mon, those bumpers just scream "farm equipment".

Now Erik, One ought to be extremely cautious on a "T-ABC" list in using the words "farm equipment". Have you checked the length of your connecting rods lately? Mr. B.

I prefer to think of MGs as having "Estate Equipment".

Two MGB's were bid up to $22,000 and $23,000 and did NOT sell! Joe Potters beautiful VA Tickford, ex Gene Wescott, sold at $56,000 to a gent from North Carolina...... Something wrong with this picture......... Terry

Erik dear boy, Well, yes, I know what you are saying old chap and I would certainly not be the one to draw any um, unpleasant comparisons however, I have, on rare occasion - heard other less scrupulous individuals make reference to MG engines as being rather umm - "agricultural" in their internal dimensions. I agree, of course that a phrase such as "estate equipped" is far more suitable and I abhor any rural references, regardless of how oblique such as... "Why not attach a plow to the rear bumper and do the north forty" or anything connected with hay bailers - or any such thing.
