Oil can needed.

Post by Neil Nelson » Mon Jan 28, 2002 10:05 pm

I have a friend who is working on a TC and is in need of the oil can that is attached to the battery box via a bracket on some older cars. He just needs the oil can, not the bracket. He has tried to find it at Abingdon Spares and Moss but they either do not sell it or only sell it with the bracket. Anyone out there know of a source for just the can? Neil Nelson TC 0526

Neil - Mike Collingburn did this a while back, don't know if he has any left. The can is soldered tinplate as original, but instead of a painted design they have a decal, which mostly sticks on but the corners lift a bit. BTW these tins were only fitted to early "home" market cars, although Mike Sherrell found one on an "EX-R" email: mcolling@globalnet.co.uk> website: www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~mcolling> cheers Roger

Roger Re late TCs and oil can. I had thought that all home cars at least had the oil can, but my UK TC-8233 [March 1949] does not even have the holes in the bulkhead for the oil can carrier, so could never have had the can. I never saw one on a TC in Australia - both my road TCs in Aus were devoid of oil cans - and none of my friends' TCs there in the 60s had one. Mike Card TC8233, TC9477 Surrey UK
