Info desired
I would be grateful to know what is the best source for TB springs?
Also, I would like to know what color TB engines should be painted. I know
early TC engines were not MG red, but I don't know what color proper TB
engines ought to be.
Finally, if I am in need of a new body tub, whose work is most recommended,
in terms of both quality and price (I know, these are often mutually
exclusive)?
Many thanks.

I have been happy with Orson's products. They are in B'ham UK and supply most
of the resellers in the US. They also make K-O's, etc.
They do have a web site but you'll have to do a search as I don't have the
info handy.

Tom, these folks are THE source for springs, TB same as TA, I bought mine
from them:
Orson Equipment Ltd. MG spring supplier, also half shafts and hubs
122 Barkers Lane, Tanners' Green, Wythall B47 6BS
Phone: 44 1564 823560 Fax 44 1564 824129
The engine colour question might spark a lively discussion, but I think there
is general agreement that it should be a dark red, sort of maroonish.
I bought my TA body form Naylor Bros (now Moss Intl) many years ago......it
was really built by a firm that was acquired by Hutson, the company that was
making replica TF's at one time. I was very pleased with it but cannot speak
to their recent workmanship. Others may have more recent experience or
recommendations.
Good Luck

Tom and all,
I am not sure where to get proper TB springs as I had good originals to
work with, I would caution you that TB front springs are NOT the same as
TA...see page 495 of the Blower book...I guess they were changed when the
engine went to an XPAG.
Cheers,
John

Hi Guys,
The front springs on the TB have a slightly lower "lbs. per inch of
deflection" than do the TA springs. You can use them, but they are
different.
Best,
Ray
PS- All the TB engines are a maroon, almost like the modern engine paint for
the MGB (before they went to Triumph black...........)

Yes, and they also look different...each section is tapered on the TB
type...to my knowledge only the TA type are sold...if you have your
originals you could have them repaired and sections repaired as needed.
Cheers,
John

Funny place for springs.
I guess I would know if there was a change of springs there.
