The original shockers on the TA and TB were Luvax Type AR, a round vane
type. They are very fragile as they are to be filled with oil not grease and
the pressure of the grease will fracture the die cast interior housing.
Hence most have perished and 60 years later are rare as hens teeth.
As recomended, you can contact Graham Brown at Vintage and Classic Shock
Absorbers, 203 Sanderstead Road, South Croydon,Surrey CR2 0PN England
Tel:011 44 20 8651 5347. Graham rebuilt 10 of these buggers for me about 10
years ago along with some TC shocks. 1st class gentleman, brother of Gerry
of B&G. He may be able to help.
For looks, you could consider using the ARs on the front and TC type on the
rear as the
bolt pattern is the same.
Cheers!

Bill and TA, TB Owners,
As the owner of a TA, I appreciate the "heads-up". While mine appear to be
in good shape I am not sure what they are filled with. I will check.
What color are they supposed to be painted? Mine did not have much color on
them. Are they black or silver?

Re: TA and TB Luvax Shocks
Regarding those Luvax shocks I was told that they were made here in the states under license and used by Ford on the Model A (help out you Ford guys) and the name was Houdai (?) Maybe their oil is good for them, I actually have a can or two of original Girling oil in my display cabinet. I was also told by guys in England that they were not very good which I suppose is why we do not see them anymore.
