Greetings all,
This seems like a good time to ask the group for help in identifying my differential unit( while we are discussing oil). It seems not to be a TC unit,certainly not original to the car. Instead of 3 holes it has 2, the top hole being a filler plug with provision for a dipstick(missing). It is stamped MOWOG and the date 8/42. Could this be TA/TB or something else? It does fit and function perfectly.
Of course I would like to obtain the proper dipstick though I have made a temporary one, marking according to filling the dry unit with the TC capacity.
Thanks to all,
Michael DeRentz

The "MOWOG" clearly means it is from some vehicle in the Morris, Wolseley
or MG lines, but I have no idea what. The "8/42" probably isn't a date
because there was no auto manufacturing going on in 1942 in the UK.
Typically MOWOG diffs were stamped that way to indicate the number of
teeth on the ring and pinion. 42 teeth on the ring gear and 8 on the
pinion mean your diff has a ratio of 5.25 to 1. That's even more of a
stump puller than the standard gearing.

Re: [mg-tabc] TC rear end hello Michael - sounds like a Morris 10 unit: 8/42 is the number of teeth on pinion/crownwheel.

That 5.25:1 sounds like the Morris Postal Van ratio, could be nice for Hill climbing or Farming.

Hello all;
Does anyone have a complete TC rear end that they would sell? Not for me,
for a friend. If you have such an item please let me know condition and
price and location.
Thanks
