Actually Garth I too had a double take on that e Bay shell I think they are original restored  but his choice of wording "remanufactured" was a poor choice . But I would specifically ask if they are in fact original MG parts just to be sure -----Original Message----- From: garth pusey garthp.nj@gmail.com> To: mg-tabc mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Sat, Jan 26, 2013 2:28 pm Subject: Re: [mg-tabc] Re: Radiator Surround   Sorry my mistake, I read it on the cell phone, but did not see it was a repro being offered.  Keep the faith, someone will have just the right one to offer.  Good luck..... #ygrps-yiv-570789987 #ygrps-yiv-570789987AOLMsgPart_1_781b7fec-de5e-4b42-af57-b6683aa3eb84 td{color:black;}

Well, 'remanufactured' means an original item restored to the condition it left the factory.So he's correct. Replica would be the word for what you're referring to, Joe.

As someone else already pointed out, the images were somehow lost in the Yahoo list system. Perhaps these can be re-posted, using the new forum? I'd like to see them, and learn more about the shells. -Rick, TC 7881 in Vancouver On 2013-01-26 12:34 PM, John & Barbara wrote:
  I guess I have a reproduction of the surround. It's still in the box and wrapped in newspaper from 1980. It has the round hole but I think it's brass, it's definitely not steel as it's not magnetic.. It came with my basket case car but I used the original for my restoration. I've never tried to fit it, where are the problems?

Hi Garth -   Be careful here, these are reproduction aftermarket and don't fit correctly at all.  Originals were brass metal shells, triple chromed the correct way, these are NOT brass.    Sara

Hi Colin,

There is one on EBay for sale from Texas.  The item number is  # 221180234865.  There is 24+ hours left on the clock.  Good luck...                  Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Smartphone

Radiator Surround

Post by js4955 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 1:30 pm

To all of you who expressed an interest in my radiator surround, thank you.  Based on some of the questions asked I have decided to wait until I get home the end of April and try to determine if it is original or a repro.  Stay tuned!
