MG TF serial HDC46/7227 engine XPEG-1072
According to Abingdon the generator for the TF was Lucas # 22452 or 22744 Serial break point not given.
According to Moss part number 140-300 at $195 is supplied
The early Midgets used the same part number.
My parts book for late MG Midget offers a generator under number 140-200 at $80 which replaces Lucas numbers 22258,22742,22775 and 22715.
Now then: We have a generator on a TF 1500 which is producing only 3-5 volts (still in the car)
If I have some one look at it to rebuild and they say It cannot be saved, will those with more experience out there tell me what exactly are the differences and whether I could fit the cheap replacement?
Or where can I go for a generator rebuilder?

Fw: [mg-tabc] TF technical question
Hi, the early Midget generator had a tach drive out the back like the TF and
will work just fine except the wire connectors are the "spade" type and not
bolt on like the "T". The later Midget had no tach drive hence the armature
shaft will be too short if you try to use your tach drive backplate on this
generator.
Why not have a look at your generator brushes and replace them if they
are too short? Also clean up the commutator and check the bushings.
These devices are really very simple and can be completely checked out in a
matter of minutes using a "growler" and a continuity checker.
Regards, Hugh
