Brake drum
Hi everyone,
I need a single TC brake drum. Does anyone have an one odd spare that they'd be willing to let go? It'd be easier if they're UK-based but I'm in need so I'm happy to pay shipping costs.
Can anyone help?
Regards,
Mark

Re: Brake drum
Mark,
I have dozens of good original steel TC brake drums left over from
conversions to alfin drums.
I also have in stock new alfin drums for the TA/TB/TC and wire wheeled TF.
The alfin drums give better braking as the drum size is exactly 9.00" and
the liner is cast iron ( better co-efficient of friction ).
So all you need to do is come to Canada and we can fix you up
Or, as you
say, pay the mail cost.
Surely somebody in the UK will have a spare drum or two??
Regards, Bob Grunau

Re: Brake Drum
Thank you to everyone who responded to my search for a brake drum. Its seem to me that most of you are running Bob's finned aluminium drums.

Hi Scott,
Yes, and I would encourage you to go the same route. The difference could save the front of your car from serious customizing!

Re: Brake Drum
Just to throw in my 2 cents, about a year ago I went with Bob's drums. It transformed the car with confidence on stopping ability. This last weekend with the Abington Rough Riders on the left coast we drove some serious curvy and hilly roads. We were pushing the cars pretty well with some toe heel down shifts and heavy braking before the corners (ala "The Red Car") I was loving the confidence of Bob's wonderful brakes and Bud's steering. What a hoot!! Howard TC6424

Brake drum
Just wondered what col.... No, forget that.
I have a friends TC here and the left hand front brake drum won't come off. Before anyone asks, the 6 nuts are off and the washers and the two screws but it's so tight it feels like they nuts are still on.
I assume the drum is stuck on the shoulders of the studs so I'll have to hit the rim with a hammer - hard!
I may take the hub off and separate it on the bench if the hammer doesn't work.
Any thoughts

See what happens when you back off the pads through the adjustors.

Re: Brake drum
All, heat didn't do it. I took the hub off and on the bench, put the six nuts on and really hit hard with a large hammer. Still didn't move until there was an audible crack and the drum came off. The flange had, what looked like, varnish on it. I washed that off the drum and had to use a wire brush to get it of the hub flange. I'll run a round file through the holes before putting it back on. Many thanks for all the help. See what happens when you back off the pads through the adjustors.

Any thoughts Norman TC10178 (but this car) #yiv2760512357 #yiv2760512357 -- #yiv2760512357ygrp-mkp { border:1px solid #d8d8d8;font-family:Arial;margin:10px 0;padding:0 10px;} #yiv2760512357
