Pump Thanks
T-list
I had a fuel pump problem on my VA a while back. It would work on the bench but wound not move any petrol when on the car. Someone on this list, sorry I can not remember who emailed me that you must hold the plunger in the "up" position when mounting it to the base. I did this and sure enough it took off. I never would have thought to do this, but I am sure its written somewhere. This list is wonderful.
thanks

Joe that is what that silly looking wedge they have you putting under the points in the pump overhaul section does it stretches the diaphragm, amazing how weak that pump coil actually is that it can not overcome the diaphragm.

Re: Pump Thanks
Dear Joe and Joe,
I must have overhauled several dozen TC fuel pumps in my time - with varying degrees of success I should add! - but this is a new one on me!!

Re: Pump Thanks
Dave the TD shop manual goes into great detail regarding this special Wedge, but they also go low tech and describe using a wooden match stick!!!!
