I am almost sorry that I got into this discussion. I didn't want to start a split in the group. On the other hand, while I am not sure when the first TC reached the US I am sure that "modifications" started the next day. (Key distinction, Fords were hopped up, sports cars were modified.) An entire industry evolved around this process, remember MG Mitten, Amco luggage racks, Judson blowers etc. This all culminated with Ken Miles' R2 "Flying Shingle" which if memory serves had a hand built chassis, a Morris Minor front suspension and steering, a hand built body and an engine left over from a factory record attempt. But we all knew that it was an MG because thats what the badge on the bonnet said! Jim
