Sorry Guys, but this thing is getting out of control. I've been away for 4 days and there are 127 E-mails awaiting me when I get back, almost 80% of which are about MG's. Don't misunderstand me, I love MG's, but I also have to work! I joined up to get advice about technical problems, but there is so much "other business" I don't even have time to read the important stuff. Can someone advise how I de-register please. Brian, I sympathize with your comments. However, there are a couple things that can be done, short of dropping out of TABC entirely: 1) I believe that there is a way to get a daily "digest" of TABC messages, instead of individual messages. (Unfortunately, I do not recall how to accomplish this, but I'm sure some other member will come up with instructions.) 2) If we are not receiving the helpful / technical info we are seeking, it's up to each of us to ASK THE QUESTIONS to which we want answers. We can't expect others to read our minds, or to anticipate our problems. QUESTIONS ARE INVALUABLE, and determine what the list members will discuss. 3) Scanning and deleting does not take THAT much time, especially if people are considerate enough to provide a meaningful "subject line" for their messages. For example, I personally have been immediately deleting all messages with a subject line relating to "TC at Christie's" (or some such) without even looking at them. Well, I've been gone for 7 days and am up to 498 messages, most of which are the bantering back and forth from a few guys (much like this message). I could use the delete key, but am afraid I will miss something, so I check them all, but don't read them all. However, I will stay connected with these groups because there is a lot of valuable information therein. I do wish that the few guys would stop going back and forth, however, or at least do it between themselves instead of including all of us. Larry

Brian, At the top of this message should show a link to unsubscribe to the list. mg-tabc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com> Before you do that try the Digest form of receiving the list messages as Carl suggested (You get one message a day with all the messages in it). Another choice is to select no "emails" which keeps you as a member of the roster but you don't receive emails. You can view them when you want or search out info with key words whenever you want then at the Yahoo site. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and get in (register if you haven't done so already with the email address you are listed on our list with). Once in, go to the "My Groups" link and then "Edit My Groups". You can then change your membership from Individual Emails to Daily Digest, No Email or elect to drop out totally with Unsubscribe. If getting into Yahoo is a problem, don't frustrat yourself as it can be quirky. Just contact our TABC list moderator, Jim Shade at jshade@aol.com and ask him to change your setting. I hope you at least stay registered even if you don't receive the email. Having a register of all T A,B & C's is quite impressive. As a list member for a while (Bob Grunau signed me up when we were a group of about 30), I know this thread has emerged right along. The volume of mail can be reduced if specific comments are directed to individuals rather than the list, but it may be time to revive an old proposal of mine, which was to label technical inputs differently from the social, events, and general fun stuff. Simply prefacing the subject line to differentiate ("Tech:" vs. "List:" or some such) would allow us to delete whatever we don't want, or read it first, then delete the trivia days later in bulk without a reread. Maybe some clever programmer type could figure out a way to add a "checkable" box for a global delete. Or, have a separate e-group address for each, so that list members can sign up for one or both kinds of mail, i.e., everything would automatically go to one group, "Tech only" (and general announcements) to the other.

In any event, growth of the list has brought a few problems, but, in my view, the variety of inputs, particularly parts and service sources as well as depth of technical exchange had made growth far outweigh its downside. Perhaps Walter can address the issue before we have more dropouts.
