Re: TC action
G'day Terry
What a robust discussion this has become.
Correct!
There are nearly as many modified as there are standard TCs fielded on the
paddock at the MG National Meetings which you have attended down here.
But did the essence of the modifications escape you?
Bet you didn't see too many with non-MG mechanicals?
Sure the Datsun 1000 steering box is 'alien' as I saw it described on this
thread.. After all, it's discreet (I've seen it fool long time TC owners at
2 or 3 paces) But the trick is to have the rest of the modifications
sympathetic with the period.
At the extreme, even in Rogers Waters V8 TC .. there's nothing that's not
either Nuffield, BMC or Leyland in its makeup.
The anti-tramp cables et al you mention are nothing new. Have a gander at
old photographs of racing TCs in the 50's.
It's all been done before, a lot of it copied from factory competition
models and applied to the humble TC
The whole point is not to overstep the line.
I will defend anyone's right to do whatever they wish to their MG ... on
your side of the pond I've even seen one painted plaid, or was it
carpeted....but when you jack up the body and drop it over the engine and
driveline of another marque, well.................?????
Why stop there. Why not go into business flopping fibreglass shells off a TC
mould and dropping them onto WRX Subaru floorpans. It would have its own
'character' but could you call it pukka?
Yes, we still have the Tickford

Re: TC action
Queen Mary? Hmmmmm! Wasn't that the nickname the lads at Abingdon gave to the
SA, or was it the VA?
