Re: Screw threads
The other day, while searching for a prospective industrial screw supplier, I came across a rather well-illustrated, comprehensive catalog of screw types. It combines dimensioned drawings of each fastener and head type with a tabular listing of each of the principal dimensions in each thread size, including the dimensions of the various driver angles (Phillips, Torx, Posidrive), thread cutting and thread rolling screws, washer heads and Sems, as well as various washer types, driver bits, pop rivets and tools, etc. For example, they illustrate five different types of set screw points and the dimensions of the hex socket for each thread size. These are limited to American standards, but they are nonetheless useful for general geometry and descriptive terminology. I have no knowledge of the company as a fastener source or the quantities they solicit, but they appear to be a distributor of the products of many companies rather than a manufacturer of just a few proprietary products. The website is: www.aboveboardelectronics.com , and the printouts I obtained formed a quick and rather complete reference. In the past, there have been a couple of threads asking questions about how to identify a particular head type for replacement, and this might help. Austin
