Screw thread size for ...
Dear all,
A quick question - on an original TC steering wheel
(ie, 3-flat spokes), what is the thread size/type of
the 3 screws that retain the centre chrome hub?
Seems a bit larger than 6BA.
Regards,
DAI

Don't know about the size of the machine screws in question, but the ones on
my '48 TC are definitly flat-head (rather than round-head), and the plate
they hold into the hub are countersunk to accommodate the flat-head screws.

This was discussed here a month or so ago. There were several variations in hub design on both the original TC wheel and the Bluemmels (sp?) spring-spoke aftermarket "Brooklands" wheel seen on a lot of TCs. On some the machine screws that hold the center plate are countersunk flatheads, on others they are roundheads. -- Chip Old 1948 M.G. Just to add fuel to the fire, the screws on my TC 9806 are oval head
(countersunk on the bottom, raised on the top) with acorn nuts behind.
