TCOC 1000 Meetings

Post by Darryl Robins » Sun Aug 12, 2001 8:26 am

Next weekend, August 17 - 19 the MG TC Owners Club [TCOC], Perth, Western Australia is having a celebration weekend party for our 1000 th general meeting. That's 1000 meetings since the Club was formed on 1st June 1961 [40 Years]. The club has met every 2nd Thursday night since inauguration. A special limited [60] edition 1000 meeting Badge Bar badge is being isssued to members. The badges are individually numbered and engraved with the members name. Meetings never start before 9 pm and the last generally go home some time after 1 am. Traditionally Mike Sherrell & John Bowles always the last to go. The question often asked is "after 40 years of meeting every 2 weeks what have you guys got left to talk about ?????? TCs - what else. TCs will be well toasted with our special bottling of "1000 Meeting" Port Also in the pipeline, well underway is a "40 years of the TCOC History Book of some 200 pages of club history with colour photos. Regards to all T Types Darryl

My TC 4956 was disassembled for restoration in June of 1961, and stayed that way untill I bought it earlier this year. Think of all the fun you have had while "Ellie" was waiting. Giday Darryl: Having attended a get together of your great club during the Nat meet in 1995, I have never seen such MG enthusiasm in my life. My wife Verna and myself will never forget the warm welcome that we were received with. A couple of years later, we were honored at Harry Pyles home by the TC club again. what a warm and memorable experience. We want to congratulate you on 40 years of MG nostalgia. Our own MG club here in the States is also celebrating its 40th aniversary this year. I am the last "founding" member still around. Our hats are off too you all!! Darryl
Congratulations - what a milestone to achieve without having been the subject of a rebuild or restoration project! Whilst not a proxy for the TCOC, your Club's acknowledged contribution to some of the content in Mike's "TC's Forever" means that the rest of us TC owners owe you lot a huge debt of gratitude, so long may your celebrations last - well past 1.00 am!

Congrats on your longevity! The TC Motoring Guild has had monthly meetings since the dark ages and I marvel that people drive that far for a few cookies and the odd door prize. The Abingdon RoughRiders meet once a year and we get it all done then - The rest of the time we motor around the great roads of Northern California. Just met at Phil "Nigel Shiftright" Frank's refurbed barn for a great cookout yesterday. It would be depressing in the extreme not to be a TC owner.

Congratulations on a fine history of TC ownership and restorations and last but not least Mike Sherrells book.Enjoy yourselves for at least another 40 years and then let the youngsters take over. Our countries will be meeting in Perth for the Tri-Nations, I'm sure we will be rooting for opposing teams but our admiration for TCs knows no bounds
