Lucas cutout

Post by Dave & Diana Dwyer » Thu Jun 21, 2001 2:18 am

Gentlemen I believe that a TA should be fitted with a Lucas CJR3 L35 cutout: I have available a CJR3 L41. Does anyone have data which will tell us the difference? I can't just try it out because the car is still in a lot of boxes! Regards Dave Dwyer J2, TA, TC

Dave according to Lucas the CJR3 code means it Incorporates Cutout, Junction box and fuses, sad to say they do not explain the L numbers, perhaps that is the amperage that they are set at. Joe Curto

Hi Dave and List, Dave, your cutout has a lot more of the correct numbers than the #--51 (12v) which is from a SA that I plan on using in TA2969. It looks the same as the pictures and is 12 volt. It is one of many question marks that I am not sure of. If yours says 12 v somewhere on it I would give it a try. Be prepared to turn off the battery quick! Today tried to install a vintage battery cutoff switch purchased from Barry Walker (25 yrs ago). Upon testing, the only time it worked was the position between on and off.. Drilled out all rivets, replaced spring and reground shape of contacts. It is now functional, but what a hassle. Very useful in case of fires, theft, and the like, though. Dave, any time line on when the boxes will be drivable??? Cheers, Lee Jacobsen, Dearborn, MI

Thanks, Joe. That looks a bit hopeful. Since it's only a cutout and fusebox, how complicated can the spec be? Regards Dave Dwyer J2, TA, TC
