How does the hood fold ... properly?

Post by Chris Blood esq. » Mon Jun 18, 2001 11:55 am

Has anyone and photos on how a TC hood should fold? I've seen those in a Restoration book and 'bible' but what about some genuine stuff from you guys!
Mine seams to trap the Double Duck too much.
Regards.

Re: [mg-tabc] How does the hood fold ... properly? Chris This can be a problem. It may well be that the duck we tend to use today is thicker than that previously used. Anyway, the frame does trap it and sometimes makes it difficult to drop the hood bows inside the body which, in turn makes for difficult tonneau cover fitting. You can leave the fixings to the rear hood bow off and providing that you fix the bow to substantial webbing it will stay in place, and this allows you to keep all the hooding outside the frames when folded; however the rear fixings also stop the hood from sliding sideways slightly and upsetting the balance over the rear screens. The next time I fit a hood I am going to try and work out a simple system to release the hood from the rear bow (I already use a bolt and nut fixing rather than a rivet) but I haven't sorted it yet -- a challenge for you? I have been thinking along the lines of Velcro along the top of the hood bow, it should be enough to keep everything together along with the webbing. I hope this helps Tony TC 9825
