Brake Line Threads

I was in the garage tonight trying to connect the last of my brake lines. Unfortunately, I had some problems trying to thread the rear brake line fitting to the rubber hose..I obviously did not have the two lined up and I started to strip the threads. I want to pass a tap and die along the threads before going any farther. Could someone enlighten me as to the type size of threads used on the TC brake lines - metal brake lines bought from Moss (Moss has told me they get their brake pipes from Naylor Brothers) - Lougheed rubber brake lines.

It appears that the lines are not Whitworth threads - and none of my metric taps and dies seem to fit. It appears that the thread may be 1.25 but possibly a metric #10?

Thanks in advance. I am hauling my wife and three kids to the Holiday Inn in St. Pauls this July. Unfortunately, the TC will have to remain in my garage for this - she will still be in quite a few pieces I suspect.

TC brake line threads are 7/16 inch 20 or 7/16 National Fine. Weird, not metric, BSF or Whitworth.

Anybody know the origin of these threads on a TC?

You're right, they are 7/16 inch diameter and 20 TPI pitch. I wondered if that might by coincidence also be a British Standard Pipe thread form, but accordng to my British Standard thread form reference (which took a while to find, hence the slow reply), there is no 7/16 BSP. I guess it must be 7/17 UNF.
