Walter, As a general rule splits in piston skirts should go on the non thrust (left hand) side of an engine. In the case of the XPAG - the camshaft side. I am not aware of any exceptions to the above "rule" and I would doubt if there were any. Unfortunately it's so long since I've stripped a TC engine I cant recall this particular detail, nor what other piston markings or characteristics may indicate its orientation (often there is an arrow, notch or something - but maybe not always). Let us know if you learn something different. thanks brian, i have to confess, i have been "blind". there is a marking at the piston s top => "front" and that means the split is on the cam side! maybe we have had too few sunshine this spring ;-) best regards walter

The split is always on the non thrust (cam) side with a split skirt piston. Assuming normal rotation of the crank..... FYI for the rest, if you can find a modern design piston, I would go for it. Best, Ray McCrary "Speed is Life; of course Luck and Altitude are helpful, too."
