Gudgeon Pin Clamp Screws Does anyone know of a UK source for socket head cap screws M8 size, fine 1.0mm pitch, grade 10.9, suitable for use as gudgeon pin clamp screws for the XPAG engine. Alternatively a socket with walls thin enough to enable tightening of the original style hex head screws using a torque wrench. Regards, Jim Chase

But here again any good Machine Screw Supplier ,not you local Halfords, should be able to help you get what you are looking for. They generally aren't "Trade Only" but can seem somewahat intimidating sometimes. Jim Moss had a socket, think it was 3/8 drive, that was modified so that you could use it on Gudgeon bolt to tighten it correctly, if you contact them and they can not come up with the part number, let me know and I will look back in their old part book to get the number. Dean

In the absence of suitable socket cap screws I use a traditional thin walled box spanner (as in the original kit) with a modern socket over the free end to attach the torque wrench to. Cliff

If using a socket, you will have to grind away part of one side and place this ground side towards the rod. You can then get about 1/6th turn before removing the socket and setting it back one point on the bolt head to repeat the process. Don't grind away your expensive BSF Snap-on socket!!! Buy an inexpensive 12 point, 13 mm socket and grind one side. The 13 mm socket is a snug fit but works. Bob Grunau. "Chase, Jim" wrote:
