Hello Mike and Dave,
You really are stirring them up on the cover issue Mike!
I only use a full tonneau by the way and so would you if you lived
here. I have also put in the odd extra lift the dot to pull it nice and
tight especially when it is in 3/4 position. I can't stand the little ill
fitting half thing that hangs on the back of the car like a whore's
drawers.
I've also made an inner cover that we use when the soft top is up to
keep prying eyes from the contents of our luggage compartment.
This makes use of the redundant half tonneau rail behind the seats
and a non-standard group of Badger's erect lift the dot studs
screwed into the top of the side screen compartment. Down hill we
slide and so much for originality!
My cream car is on 4 wheels, engine and box in, with the body tub
loosely bolted in position for the first time in umpteen years. This
week I'll hang the doors and finally bolt the thing down. I'm all fired
up again now after having to work like hell to show progress for a
MGCC garage meet at my place yesterday.

Re: Tiny Little Tonneau Covers
One problem that I encountered was the 'lifting' of the tonneau corner in
the center of the dash (fascia) when in the 3/4 position. (That means while
the full tonneau is in place, but I am driving, and therefore have the
drivers side unzipped and open). I drilled a hole in the 'little erect
member' and inserted a cotter/split pin to keep the corner from lifting.
Seems no matter what else I tried, the wind pulled that corner off the post.
It worked for 15 years, until the tonneau rotted away. Now I need a new
tonneau.
