Italmeccanica supercharger
Does anyone have a manual or any info on an Italmeccanica
supercharger I could copy? It is an Italian licenced knock-off of an
English Wade unit. The plate sez "MG101 IT-1500".
What was the original carburettor? Mine has a cast iron Zenith
sidedraft attached.

The Wade R.010 as provided in kit form for the T-Types used one of the original S.U. H2 carbs. The kit included three jet needles: DQ (normal), DR (richer), and DP (weaker). This is according to Blower's "MG Workshop Manual". Don't know if that applies to the Italmeccanica MG.010 as well. -- Chip Old 1948 M.G. Bill I think that that goofy industrial Zenith is correct, as if an SU was
fitted a hole in the bonnet is needed. I saw a unit that William Hinkle had
that used that type of carb. I have no idea where to get any written info.

It was fitted to an MG XPAG or XPEG engine. I don't have the crankshaft pulley (2 sheeve) or a tentioner, if used. Is this the same as the Wade blower, or similar? It has a sidedraft Solex carb. Do you know of a source of literature that I could access? I would like to fit this unit to my TF. Thank you very much, Phil Lawrence [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Phil Lawrence:
I have an Italmechannica supercharger also. It is missing
the engine pulley and needs repairing so it hasn't been
installed. I do have a "copy" of the original Italian
installation instructions along with a poor English
translation. The instructions include a diagram of the
installation and the tensioner. I could probably email them
although the instructions are 11"by17" in size.
Except for the instructions which someone else provided me,
I have been unable to find anything on this supercharger. I
keep hoping someone will have an advertisement or literature
showing an actual installation and will send me copies.
You can email me direct if you want more information

Re: ITALMECCANICA SUPERCHARGER
If it is simular to a Wade, I have made the pullies, both crank and
tensioner. I also made the outrigger drive and pully for my Wade. I would
have to look, I did make a couple extras.

It's only similar to the Wade in that it's a Roots type.
The intake manifold is different, and the tensioner setup is
different. The installation, as given in the directions,
requires moving the water inlet spigot on the radiator. The
tensioner assembly includes a new water outlet on the head.
The tensioner is mounted on the generator side of the
engine.
If there's enough intereste, I can place the instructions on
my web site.

Re: ITALMECCANICA SUPERCHARGER
Does this supercharger fit under a TF bonnet? I have heard friends
in the club lamenting that the new MOSS units do not fit under a
TF bonnet.

Re: ITALMECCANICA SUPERCHARGER
Blake I believe Italmeccanicia is the same as S.C.O.T.T. I have seen ads in
earley 1950's magazines, I do not think they made it past 1955 or so

Re: ITALMECCANICA SUPERCHARGER
Phil I purchased a 1948 TC with a Italmechanica supercharger. I have been restoring the car, and just finished restoreing and reinstalling the supercharger. It has not been running yet. As described in a previous post, the water outlet is new and has the tensioner pully mount incorporated into one aluminum unit. I am not sure that the upper radiator connection has been moved. I also have the copies of the diagrams and Italian instructions, which began to make some sense the farther along I got. I also had lip type oil seals added to all the shafts. Once again, I have not had it running yet,but I am quite sure it is installed properly. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.
