MGTA FUB 870

Post by John Marks » Fri Jan 26, 2001 1:49 am

After reading a wonderful article in our local Tunbridge Wells (England) news paper, it occurred to me that someone out there in the group might have the answer. It lovingly relates the story of an elderly gentleman's restoration of a 1937 MG TA registration FUB 870, which he purchased for 50.00 in 1949. It even tells how Mr.Connolly dyed him a 1 off hide in the original red leather which they had not produced since 1937, and told Gordon that he wouldn't dream of charging him for it!! All Gordon Wick's efforts to trace the car which he had to sell in 1957 when he got married, for the princely sum of 450.00, have failed. As the Driver and Vehicle licensing Authority have no record of the car being registered in the UK, we think it was probably exported, but where to? If anyone out there has any clues it would be wonderful to make an old man happy and a new owner to learn the history of his car! Lots of our MG customers from overseas visit England to trace the history of their cars, so one of you could just be lucky.
