unknown steering wheel

To All, In my never ending quest to obtain more parts than necessary, I have purchased another steering wheel for my TC. You can never have enough...right? I have seen only one of these in a reference source before and at that time assumed it was an original three spoke wheel with holes drilled in the spokes by the owner. Now that I have one in my hands, I find it is exactly like my Bluemels solid black, three spoke wheel and the holes (8 in each branch) are manufactured into this, no amateur drilling. The covering that is coming off is not as thick as the "Bakelite" finish on my other one, and appears to be painted. The hub is of one piece with the wheel and the dimensions are the same as the solid spoke wheel, 17" dia. etc. No markings are evident and nothing is cast into the wheel. Does anybody know anything about these steering wheels and the source? Could the factory have supplied this,or would it be one of the many "optional" accessories from outside suppliers that might have been available during the heyday of TCs? This would appear to be one of the famous racing wheels. Lightened by drilling holes to reduce weight and with a less that standard bakelite compound, it was guaranteed to add.0000000000021 foulongs per fortnight to the top sppped fo selceted racing MGs. Is the thead specification BSF or British Standard Brass Gas Fitting ? Hmmmmmmmm?
