Gear Lever "Snug" Rubber

Post by Viv James TraX Interconnect (Pty.) Ltd » Thu Jan 18, 2001 4:45 am

Jack, It goes on top. My "snug" and gear box cover both come from Moss UK. If I tuck the snug in where it belongs, it keeps squeezing out. The other problem is that it inhibits gear lever movement, so much so that the car jumps out of 3rd with the rubber in place. I leave the snug outside the cover and in 4th gear it slides down the lever to effectively close the cover hole and keeps out whatever needs to be kept out. For concours purposes I tuck it back where it belongs and no-one is any the wiser! The old Moss UK covers and the very new ones are pretty good. They had one batch a couple of years ago that were floppy and useless. I bought 2, complained nicely and they replaced them at no charge. I scrapped the bad ones. I have only screwed mine onto the foot plate. It rests on the floor boards quite happily located by the prop-shaft tunnel without being screwed down. Viv James
