Good-day: Firstly, I had no floor boards left in the vehicle as the engine/tranny/etc. had been removed and the floor boards had been long discarded. Add to this, the gear-box cover was rotted and torn beyond use. I have a new cover (repro) which had to be reholed in two places to match the 7 bolt openings in the ramp plate but my queries are as follows:
1. Was the segment of the cover that rests atop the floor boards, aft towards the propeller shaft
tunnel, somehow screwed to the boards?
2. What is the order of assembly for the snug, metal cap, spring (the circlip is understood)?
The reason for Q. # 2, is that I have seen sequences with the snug under the cover , on top of the cover, and the metal cap under the snug ( which imho defeats the engraved "oil" inscription and the use of the opening hole in the cap itself.) I call upon the group to bail me out on yet another problem that has been created by age and confusion. Cheers for now then: Jack Emdall, TC # 6768.
