I will be removing the "remote control assembly" from the gearbox in order
to remove the gearbox from the car as stated in the Blower Manual. The
engine is out and I want to reinstall them as a unit at a later date.
My question is: When I remove the remote control assembly will there be
any surprises such as springs or ball popping out?
Thanks-

Re: Removal of remote control assembly
Alan,
No booby traps that I can remember! We were able to extract (and later
replace) the gearbox & bell housing as a unit WITHOUT removing or disturbing
the toe ramp. It's a snug fit, but do-able with patience. (Some manuals
call for removing or at least moving the ramp in order to remove the gearbox,
but that looks like a miserable job to me!)
While you have the box out, you might be well advised to install
reinforcing pieces on the rear plate of the 'box, even if it is not already
broken. I understand that the breaks happen most frequently on the driver's
side, just below the tranny-mount "ears".
Good luck

There are 3 little springs that push on the the selector indent balls. They should remain in their holes in the back gearbox wall rather than fly out when you remove the extension. Remove them before you start moving the box. Only if you turn the gearbox upside-down will the 3 balls fall out.
