Steve, I presently own a KLR650....I did own a NX650 for about 6 years and put about 12K on it. If my memory serves me correct the NX had a much rougher vibration and it seemed to wear you down more especially after 100 miles or so... I did put knobbies on it, but really never got a chance to use it off road like have the KLR. In the power department the NX seemed a little stronger. Joe IL, A13KLR 01DRZ400E

Went for an evening ride down to Rampart Range last night. Got stuck on some rock (covered in loose rock) and dropped the bike. Also dropped it doing a u-turn when I hit some of the loose stuff at the side of the road. No damage except the radiator plastic came loose. I took it off when I got home and was pretty amazed to see how vunerable the radiator is. If you take a drop and damage the radiator, you're pretty screwed: the engine's going to get overheated in minutes. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DSN_klr650/files/TEMP% 20FILES/IMG_2398.JPG I know happy-trails makes the hiway pegs/bars that may go some way to protecting the radiator, but does anyone else make anything radiator- specific? If I had the tools and the equipment, it would probobly be pretty easy to fashion an steel rod to the frame where the radiator mounts, making sure the rod extends out past the radiator to the left to protect it. Anyone know of something like this?

I have oil leaking out of the small hole on the right side of the engine. It appears to be a drain hole of some sort and is just toward the center of the engine from the coolant drain plug on the water impeller. Is this the oil release valve? What do I do about it?
