If you're willing to spend $100 for a tire, which is about top end of tire prices for a KLR, you can afford the Michelin Anakees. I seem to be the lonely voice on the list who runs them, but they are, without a doubt (IMHO), the best street tire for the KLR. I got nearly 10,000 miles out of my set, they're compounded with silica in the rubber (the only tire for the KLR to have silica) for long life and excellent grip in the wet. I ran a pair for 18000 km on the 4 Corners, they still look to have a

I have no experience with the Anakees, and respect Blake's opinion.
I do have experience with the Dunlop 607 street tire and am amazed at it's
stick in turns. I have made mistakes (thankfully few) and these tires have
pulled me through at least one turn that I really thought was going to take
me down. I should also say that the Dunlops are as bad on dirt, mud, grass
and sand as they are good on pavement. I cannot speak for the Anakees.
Just thought you might want another brand to look at.

Personally, after riding Blake's Anakees shod bike on dirt, I would say
they are probably similar to the Dunlops. Scary!
