chain lube container/nozzle?

Post by klrbugeater » Wed Aug 17, 2016 12:25 pm

Hi Group, Just wondering if anyone has discovered a "close to perfect refill chain lube container" and small nozzle thinggy?   I can use off the shelf metal pressurized can spray if I want but, when I don't want to, is there a container, about 12 oz.-ish, that I can re-fill with my choice of chain lube, that can reach in to the inner side of the chain, with some kind of nozzle?  (Not a permanent mount Scott Oiler or spray cans).  Something I can take on the road with  me, stick it in the pannier or tank bag and drizzle on the chain while the tire's off the ground, at gas fill ups?  I can't get the top part of a qt. oil container between the chain and swing arm to drizzle. Something like a 3-in-1 oil container, but refillable.  I have an old gear oil container but, the cap on it does not seal it from leaking if laid over. Is there a screw on cap with nozzle and container that is sturdy enough?  Something that will snap shut or not leak when closed? A SmartWater 1 ltr. bottle with snap close cap???  But that's maybe too bulky.  Something about 1/2 that size-ish. Thanks. KLR Bugeater

The parts are: 1.) Small Nalgene bottle from a set I bought at a camping store 2.) spare vacuum fitting leftover from the Scottoiler kit sealed with clear silicone RTV.  An enterprising sort could find a small hex screw, *carefully* drill a hole down the middle and then bolt it through a hole in the cap. Use flat washers on both sides to shore it up and it ought to hold nicely.    --- New Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail replacement - get it here: http://www.oeclassic.com/   3.) aquarium air line 4.) small section of brass tubing (hobby store) 5.) rubber vacuum cap. (auto parts store.) The red oil inside is ordinary Bel-Ray "gear saver"80W-90 final drive oil. Look real close and you might see a tiny piece of Teflon plumber's tape peeking out from under the green cap where I sealed the threads. Put a longer bit of brass tubing on the outlet and you'd have a directional spout. -eddie

chain lube container/nozzle?

I have repurposed an empty mustard dispenser with a 1/2 twist-to-open rotation of the nozzle to hold oil. The gear oil container that some use for chain lube can be made leak proof by making a gasket from a 'walmart' bag over the opening, and then screw the lid back on. Also works well on your shampoo container when traveling on the airlines.m.

chain lube container/nozzle?

You want, Tiny Nozzle, and Refillable?  Simple,...... At Many Hardwares, Walmart, etc etc,. the Brand is,,..... "Zoom Spout" Oilers with LOOOOOONG Flexible tubes, that store inside the Bottle. (I LOVE them when job calls for it) 30 years as a Service Tech. These reach into SMALL areas, Motor bearings etc etc etc.  Only CATCH,..... Its a soft Plastic Bottle that can leak, SO,..... I would get a, little bit bigger bottle for Storage on trips, Or piece of PVC Cut to length and Make a storage container etc. And Also store UPRIGHT. (I would say just a Freezer bag, BUT, Being a Squeeze bottle,...... Well you get the idea. PS. THANKS for Making Me think about putting one on the KLR, Slipped My Mind, tho I still use Mine Almost weekly for other Items.   https://www.amazon.com/Supco-CE441-Zoom-Spout-Oiler/dp/B00DM8JK2G On Thursday, August 18, 2016 1:35 AM, "buddyeckles@...
