miracle plastic repair?
Did an unscheduled dismount (story posted at Fazedbook if interested),
and broke the shroud corner plastic. Have any y'all come up with the
miracle patch fix? Suspect the plastic melt reattachment would crack at
the post pin attachment. Anyone try fiberglass patch/resin combination
with success?
Thanks,
Todd

If it's gen 1 plastic, I'd try West System G-flex.

miracle plastic repair?
Not sure what year or where the break is, but I'd scuff up the area with coarse sandpaper, and JB Weld a small piece of aluminum on the back side. Scuff up the aluminum as well. If not J-B Weld, use some plastic epoxy. I've tried both repairs with good results.

miracle plastic repair?
zoot-I have repaired some bike plastics with super glue and baking soda sprinkled over the joint.NOTE: the reaction gets really hot. There are UTube tutorials out there; watch a couple prior to trying it out. Most of the tutorials are about modelers making seamless joints...the plastic is also a different formula than KHI plastics.
THIS solution: It works on some Kawasaki plastic, some it does not.I repaired a 2007 KLX250 side panel and it was holding after 3 years.I repaired a 2001 KLR650 brush guard...no so good. shrug. It held until I dropped the bike on the same brushguard, however, in only broke on the repaired seam.
It all depends on the plastic formula....revmaaatin.

Check out the Sugru product - you can get it several places. Good thing to keep on the bike for all sorts of issues.

Mark, I vote G/Flex epoxy for KLR repair, (I hope.)That looks like some tough stuff.
Mike Frey is the plastics guy on the forum...he has previously suggested some plastics wont weld/repair with out some expensive intervention. It would be great news if this worked on KLR plastic.m.

miracle plastic repair?
I'm jumping in the middle of this, don't know what was discussed, but here is my experience: I had a pinhole leak (manufacturing defect) on my IMS gas tank for my 06 KLR650. JB weld type glue didn't work. So I drained the tank of gas, FILLED it with water, and used a Harbor Freight plastic welding kit on it. Worked perfect, been holding for over a year. (don't underestimate the explosive power of some fumes in a gas tank. People have been killed that way). The kit looks like a simple soldering iron. I just melted the tank plastic, smeared it around, and it cooled hard and looked fine. Jeff -----Original Message-----

I own Why We Ride and have watched it more than once.
Even so, it's got way to many slow-motion shots.
With the reviews I've been seeing, I'll have to give this

Damn, we considered the 70 mile RT, $23 for 2 tickets and dinner out.
Something just kept niggling at me, am I just getting so old I don't want
to spend the money or is it missing my bed time?
Finally realized I just wasn't that excited after watching the trailer.
Usually they put most of the good parts in the trailer, if this was the case,
it did not have enough pull.
So glad I listened to my niggling feeling.
Saved some coin, best of all, didn't wind up pissed off last night.

These guys tried hard--read as TOO hard--to combine a philosophical treatise with an off road riding story. Sorry, guys. The middle third of the film is ok, the rest is evidently what others in the theater also thought a waste of time--they got up and left. My criticisms are many, but suffice as noted.
