motard? huh???

Post by GMac999 » Fri Apr 08, 2016 9:47 am

Supermoto or Supermotard is motorcycle racing on a circuit that alternates between three types of track: flat track, motocross and road racing, using motorcycles designed for that purpose. Supermoto was originally conceived as something like an all-star game, in which the best riders from the three separate genres of motorcycle racing could temporarily leave their normal race class to come together and compete for the title of best all around racer. Today supermoto is a distinct genre of its own and riders in the other classes do not routinely cross over into supermoto. Google is great. :-) GregM -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] Sent: Friday, April 08, 2016 6:19 AM To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_KLR650] MOTARD? klr sidecar

Post by Magen, R. A. » Fri Apr 08, 2016 12:15 pm

While I don't have any sidecar experience - YET - in two weeks I should have a good beginning !! A little background . . . 14-months ago I had a severe car - NOT MOTORCYCLE - accident. Had to be cut out and removed via the rear window - I've been told, because the only thing I remember is regaining consciousness in the hospital. Anyhow I still have problems with balance & stability. Hence - NO RIDING. Looking at a 2003 KLR650 AND a PRISTINE 1977 T140V Triumph Bonneville {that I haven't even been able to SHOW OFF} sitting under covers in my back drive has driven me NUTS. Since they don't make 'training wheels' for motorcycles - I've been looking for a sidecar. Yes - I've checked DMC, plus a couple of places on the East Coast. 'They' all want almost the same & up to MORE than BOTH bikes cost me !! Way beyond my bank account. I discussed it, in depth with 'my' local 'Vintage British' bike guy. We decided on a 'Bullet' style from 'buysidecarsDOTcom'. Yes, manufactured in India, but looks quality and we could sell it, almost instantly - still crated - for the same price I paid. I was thinking of getting another 'set' of hook-up parts so I could 'swap' the car between the Bonnie and the KLR. But we'll see. Stay tuned . . . Sorry to hear about your accident, Ron.  I hope you've been able to heal up OK otherwise than what you mentioned. We'll be interested to hear how your sidecar project progresses.
