OK, so, I hope this does not become something akin to an Oil or a Chain Lube Thread, but, I tried one of the Facebook groups for KLR's, and I lasted on it less than 2 days before I gave it up.............. what a waste of time! I don't quite get Facebook.
If someone (on Facebook) is posting stuff for family and friends, or a business providing information, that's one thing, but, the KLR Group was way off topic. I was getting about thirty (30) emails per day (I had them forwarded to my yahoo email account) and of the 30 emails, 29.9 of them did not really deal with KLR's. Most of the posts were someone's personal drivel about their life.
And, yes, not to seem like a total hypocrite, I recall that I recently posted a soliloquy on this very site about a trip that I took to Toyah, TX. But, that was one, every so often, we are not telling each other about the great sushi that we enjoyed today.........
At least on this newsgroup, we mostly limit comments to stuff that deals with KLR's. And, when we do get a Toyah Trip Report, or info on a new sushi place, it somehow does not bother me, but a constant drivel (as in Facebook) it is just too much.
OK, I am done with my off topic rant.............

Well,if you were at 44.4103 N, 103.5186 W, you would have more to do than facebook; you could face-plant in the beautiful Black Hills. wink.m1. who would ask, AMHIK
yes Virginia, there is a 'face plant'--...so, there I was on my way to a Shushi Bar, and I remember (lying face down between two rocks, slightly short of breath, thinking): 'How did I get here?' uh, so quickly. ah, the good old days of two weekends ago. or was it three?m1. who really is not sorry, that there are no pictures.

My location history shows that I was at 44.419712 N, -103.528569 W on October 1. But, Martin wasn't there, which I knew.
We enjoyed SD so much that we spent 4 days in the state, most of them in the Black Hills / Badlands area.
We stopped in Chamberlain first night - only because it got dark and it was raining, and I wanted to see the scenery in daylight. Someone said eastern SD would be boring, but it wasn't! To this eastern bred American, I knew I was from elsewhere before we even got out of Minnesota. The diminishing number trees on the landscape was very interesting because we just don't have areas like that in the east.
We only made it as far as Wall on the 2nd day because we kept stopping at anything that looked interesting: 1880 Town, Badlands Petrified Gardens, and Wall, which was a handy stopover to and From Badlands. As far as interesting... I think I'll skip Wall the next time through. A very quiet town in early October, I can imagine what it looks like in August.
3rd day - my electric razor had broken 3 days previous, so I was looking for a Wal Mart - finally came to one in Rapid City. Despite the "People of Wal Mart" pictorial essays prevalent nowadays, I noted with detached amusement that most of the women in Rapid City - Wal Mart included - were better looking than average.
Then on to the Black Hills. We stayed in Deadwood - a fun town, but not as interesting as the surrounding landscapes. I can't think of a singular "best place" but Needles Highway is certainly up there.
On the 4th day, we emerged into Sturgis and then took the superslab westwards, our next stop being Devils Tower.
My two favorite states were South Dakota and Utah and we will definitely be back. (No disrespect to Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho - we spent extra time there, too)
Mike
