nklr sort of going back

Post by achesley43@ymail.com » Sat Oct 31, 2015 7:19 am

Was interesting to go  back to my earliest post showing on this site   Oct 30 , 2004. and 1994 posts that month. Funny is I belong to 3 or 4 other KLR forums and the questions the new guys are asking were the same ones we were asking back then and even before when Kurt and Fred were keeping this site happening.  And the old names from back in the day. The rememberance of stopping by and meeting Fred in '04 , I think, Also at a remote station getting gas and running into two KLR riders headed for Moab for the annual get to gether. Which I never did get to do. At that time I was returning to Louisiana from a trip to Washington and just roaming the roads more are less on my '02 BMW R1150GS.  Been a heck of a ride

Yes thanks to our most favorite motorcycle we have record of our history.  There are other KLR lists that boast being the original or the best etc etc but none can compare to what we have created almost twenty years ago.  Lots of things have happened since the start of this list and lots of memories have been created.  You can read about our earliest KLR days on Xmission.com at: ftp://ftp.xmission.com/pub/lists/klr650/archive/ and the very first posts from 1998 here:  ftp://ftp.xmission.com/pub/lists/klr650/archive/klr650.9802   Thanks to all our great members, yes it has been a heck of a ride. nklr sort of going back

Post by achesley43@ymail.com » Sun Nov 01, 2015 2:01 am

I'll have to dig in room for the CD in have. The Gino Files.  Very interesting. I didn't know of the KLR forums when getting my 1st KLR in '92 , which I traded in on my '95 BMW R11GS. Then back on a new KLR in '00 when I deemed riding from Central Arkansas to Southwest Louisiana in rain on my DR350SE proved not the bike to be on for the roads I needed to get er done and get home. That KLR as seen a few bikes come and go in it's life with me. I even sold it to a friend for awhile when I was roaming lots of USA on my '07 Suzuki Bandit 1250S and even tried out a DR650SE but just not like the KLR. So it went. Then bought back my '00 KLR a couple of years and 1000 miles later and redone it from stem to stern.  That KLR will probably be with me till either it or me dies. LOL! I love tinkering with it.
