I don't have enough miles to tell you definitively, but the SBC or maybe they are SBS that he sells are what I put on a while back, they feel fine and seem to stop well. Hey Russell! I still stand by the Galfer "greens" in front, and the Galfer "black" in back. The greens for sure are really good at gripping the front rotor. You get a bit of squealing when they are settling in, for the first couple hundred miles or so, but that goes away. I use my front brake hard, ALOT of the time, and go through a set of greens in 6000 miles. By the way, that was a cool website link that you put up on the board the other day! I have replaced my front pads with not problem but cant see a way to remove and replace the rear. It apparently doesnt have the keyed pin like the front. Someone tell me how the rear pads come out. TIA Chuck txbiker@....

This is like asking how many miles you are going to get out of your rear tire. It varies GREATLY depending on how you use them. Jake got over 10,000 miles out of his rear D606 tire. I get 2400 miles, if I'm lucky. On the street, I use the front brake 99% of the time, and I use it hard. Using Galfer green pads, a soft pad compared to stock, up front while riding back roads 90% of the time and riding hard, I only get 6000 miles out of them. But I put another new set of the same pads on before I left for Pa and back (7500 miles altogether) and they were only half gone because it was 90% freeway miles. I just changed them out today at about 12,000 miles. The harder the pad, the longer they last. The harder, and the more you use the brake, the faster they wear. To somewhat give you an educated guess as to your question, I would say that if you are an average rider, riding modestly, with stock pads, you should get around 12-15 thousand miles out of them. My latest stock kawi brake pads are down to about 1/16 of an inch after 8000 mi. Mostly steet miles 70% 30% dirt. what are others getting with what brand pads? Where are you getting and what are you paying. My last kawi pads where$33 at dealer. TIA Big B. A-4 steet A-6 dirt

What?! Those bastards. I'll have to see if I can find the DK part number. Were you looking online or in the paper catalog? I didn't list the part number because I haven't used the KLR fronts since I switched over to the KLX forks, but they did exist. I can still get Tufstop brakepads for the KLR. About as cheap a brakepad as there is. Tufstop brakepads for the KLR are Ceramic. Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com

Looked online and talked to the DK Tech helpline. Finally talked to the Parts Unlimited tech guy. DK online and tech was messed up. Correct Tufstop numbers for KLR non metallic pads are TSRP 786 rear, TSRP 905 front.
