Check your rim strips. They may have shifted and exposed the tube to abrasion by the spoke nipples. Stephen --- Jonathan Waters wrote:

Can anyone comment on tubeless tires for the KLR? My experience with tubless tires on automobiles has been good. Also, farm equipment and ATV's are often equipped with something to seal the punctures when they happen. They will go down over time, but as long as they are moving they will hold up, unless gashed, and you can air them up and keep going and going. the downside is the mess when you try to fix a puncture. Not sure about how a bike would perform at high speed with the sealant. In looking for new tires I saw a few that were available in tubeless. Unless convinced otherwise I think that is the way I shall go. Robert Waters TotalHealth.bz Focus On Truth --------------------------------- Building a website is a piece of cake. Yahoo! In theory it seems pretty easy to do. Rather than seal each nipple I would run a strip of inner tube around the inside of the rim covering the nipples and seal the strip down on both sides with a permanent sealant such as 3M 5200 marine caulk (that stuff is BEYOND permanent!). Then you would have to find a tubeless valve stem to fit. But just because it's easy to do doesn't mean it's a good idea. I wonder if the shoulder of the KLR rim is appropriate for tubeless tires. A loss of air could cause the tire to roll off whereas on a tubeless rim it is held on by the design of the rim. Anybody got any insight on this? It sure would be nice to go tubeless.

Somehow adventure riding and tubeless just does not sound good to me... albatross who can patch a tube and move on down the trail

During a few quiet moments I pondered the anger displayed on this group, and then it ocurred to me that, for a person to be so bitter and vicious, he must have been hurt, someone opened up a scar in his soul, as we all have baggage from our past. We all have said things we have regretted, usually in a flash of anger, and not consistently for several days. So I think it is better to let our brother s scar heal again, and indulge in some mutual forgiveness and healing.
