This is AWESOME and perfectly timed My 08, a.k.a. The Tardis, Has a pair of highly stickered up aluminum panniers. The stickers are used primary for crash protection. This is important since it dirt naps on an almost narcoleptic scale. Stop laughing, I'm being serious here. I am convinced that sometimes while riding along happily it just throws me off so it can lay down and rest. While traveling home from a work trip to Hartford a few weeks ago the lid buckle on the left pannier was evidently left un latched by yours truly. The lid flew off on the highway.By the time I got back to it a few trucks had had their way with it turning it into a curved piece of stickered up scrap metal.  White Horse Press, from whom I purchased the panniers originaly, got me in touch with the manufacturer from whom I purchase one of the last three lids available.  Now the conundrum, both panniers are protected from the ravages of the Berkshires as is one lid. Alas one lid remains naked and afraid since it is bare to the elements that seam to have it in for my poor bike. This, and a hand full of stickers kept for emergency repairs, will be applied with this one getting a prime spot on the new lid. I thank you and The Tardis thanks you!Chris from Canton, a.k.a. In the articles I've read over the years on KLR's, the one that made me smile was  " When the world ends, there will only be roaches and KLR's left "  

All journalist have a different way of describing bikes unchanged basically since they were first put out for sale. Heck, the XR650 Honda is another old school as is the DR650. 

I perfectly understand this guy calling it a crocodile ( read and heard dinosaurs also )   compared to a KTM 690 or Husky Terra ( which isn't being made any more due to KTM buying them from BMW )  Or, even the BMWs 650 power plant.    

Only thing I really wish for is FI on my Gen 1 bike with 39 K miles on it. Course, the new suspension and brakes are pretty neat, But my 71 year old self and South Louisiana back roads are fine with the Gen 1 set up and it's 30 pounds lighter to boot.
