My 2004 KLR has 40,000 miles. It overheated a few thousand miles ago and after waterpump was repaired engine has a ticking noise. It runs and is registered /insured, but I'm concerned that it needs something. I paid them over a hundred to compression and leak down test it. Results were inconclusive. Dealer wanted $500 more to diagnose it. I cannot afford $90 an hour. I am willing to pay for someone to repair/rebuild it.I would prefer someone who has experience. I might want to go to a 685 kit if top end has damage. Chris 805 452 9501 you may think you can, & you make think you can't... and you're right!!

Hello KLR peeps. I just noticed this link at the bottom of Sir Fred's page. I also just added my location on the map as Ateam. This got me to thinking about ADVRider has a tent space Google map. If your looking for a place to stay to pitch a tent, need a rescue or just advice for routes you can hit the way point that will link you to each hosts page. There you will find all the details the host provides. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=776925 My post is here: http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19309359 I have hosted several people and a few lasting relationships. It is a great resource. The point is, I just added my location way point to Fred s map and I included my offer to host (Tent Space) for my KLRista brothers & sisters. Not sure if this is a good idea and Fred please delete if inappropriate. Below is my post: I live in the Sandia Mountains around 7200 feet, my road is called Angeles Vista Circle. Cool tree house, a RV parking with 50 amp, lots of drive way space, two spare bedrooms, couches, etc. I have a truck and trailer for emergency pickup and a load of tools, etc. Also a possible place to drop off a vehicle and stage yourself from here. Gated community, rural and secure.
If your looking for a staging point from I-40 and @10 miles east of Albuquerque and gonna head north into the Sangre De Christo's and other northern areas my place is good as gold. Motorcycle stores are nearby and a neighbor professional home based bike mechanic business. A road up to 10,000 feet (Sandia Crest) with 108 turns of asphalt twisties and a killer view of ABQ. I have a garage, wi-fi, pets, out door shower if so inclined, many tools. Also several good places to eat here in the mountains, brew pubs and local New Mexican food. GPS coordinates as well.
A great place to stage your vehicle and head out and explore. Ateam

Posted a request to add me to the list also.
I'm in Chilliwack, retired and happy to help with repairs and/or modifications as well as hosting.
