I have 18000 miles on my '06. I have been through one set of stock
tires and two sets of TKC 80s. I replace tires WAY before they are worn
out (the stock tires were barely worn), but front tire "wedging" (what
do you call the phenomenon where the front tire gets angled knobs?) is
too much for me long before the tire is worn out.

Wedging, isn't that do to Poor air pressure?

There is another name for it, and yes, maybe air pressure can contribute
to it, but I think it is mainly due to street use and hard braking,
which I do. I do not use the rear brake at all on the street (opposite
off road, if I remember) so I use the front tire a lot.

Hi Thonas,
I have had my KLR650C for nearly 2 years and had Dunlop D606 on the front and rear. The front wore out quickly and made a lot of noise. The rear gave lots of mileage (over 5000 miles)and good grip on all surfaces.
I now have a Duro on the front and a D606 on the rear.
I haven't had any issues with either on all surfaces except sand which I haven't ridden on.
Regards
Glenn

Even though the Dunlop 606 has gotten a lot more expensive lately, it is still a lot cheaper than a TKC80, and is a much better tire, IMO, fully the equal of the TKC on pavement, better off-road, and usually longer-lasting. Another alternative would be the kenda 784, about $40 less than the TKC.
I really don't understand how these overpriced, overrated German tires command such a following.

The Kenda's on my new bike dont say which model they are. They dont look
very dirt oriented though and i plan on ordering some 606's for it of they
will fit. Its an XT225.

Are you saying that the D 606 is better than the TKC 80 on pavement?
Really? Have you tried them both? Seriously?
That goes against all of my brain washing.
Heil Conti!

To answer your questions in order:
1. No
2. Still no
3. Yes
4. No. When I tried the TKCs, I was howling with laughter at the guy who spent almost three hundred bucks to get these tires on his bike.

I'm with Jud. Didn't like the TKC's.....wore too quickley. Love 606's, great in mud sand and gravel. Seem to work fine on street (but noisy).

I typically refer to that as "scalloping" and many things contribute to it. Low pressure, hard braking and soft front suspension all contribute to it.
To minimize it, run higher pressures in the front on the street and stiffen up your front end, either with progressive springs or longer spacers.
