I am having my girlfriend bring me a Metzler Tourance for the rear to me in Panama before I head solo for Colombia and on south. She just got off the phone with Dennis Kirk. I have used D.K. in the past and really like their customer service. However They don t have 130 /90 /17 in stock nor 120 / 90 / 17 What they do have is a 130 / 80 / 17 My question is this will this tire be too wide for my KLR 650 or should I look elsewhere. If I need to look elswhere, where? Time is short so I need fast delivery. Ghostofstevemcqueen

Does anyone know which motorcycle tires are made in the US? Not a problem to some, but we have two tire plants nearby that have laid off Americans, or closed, because of foreign competition. My current threads are Distanzias, but next time, I'll be more aware of Made In America. PS I draw the line at buying a Harley. After all, a man's got to have some standards:). don

I believe that Dunlop is the only major US motorcycle tire manufacturer left with their Tonawanda, New York plant. www.sportrider.com/tech/tires/146_0112_dunl/> -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/> San Jose, CA (USA)

I'm not aware of any USA made tires any more. I've started running Falkens on my car. I'd rather send my bucks to Japan than China.

hi all, being French I do recommend to buy Michelin. I prefer French cheese over French tires though ... hey, got a (stupid) joke : "what's the difference between an American tire and 365 used condoms ?" answer: one is a Goodyear, the other is a very good year ! sorry. ok, i need some sleep.

Gee! I've been thru lots of tires on my Adventure type bikes. As I do mostly beat up back roads, gravel roads, etc. I went back to the Avon Gripsters. This was after doing IRC 110's, IRC GP1's < to me better than the Kenda 270's (way noisy in the street) or the 110's (sometimes scare the heck out of you when leaning it over for a turn with the noise other wise a quite tire straight up and down)> This is my second set of Avon gripsters. Great on the street and do good off the beaten path. Heck I do a lot of nasty roads on a 580 pound R1150gSA so the KLR always feels good no matter what tires I have on it. ;-).. I've done 3 states of the TAT with the gripsters so no problem in the loose gravel to me. But then I learned to ride on gravel roads on an old harley tank shift foot clutch. Wow , telling my age as that was in '57 or '58 Andy in SW Louisiana
