I can see the Kenda's being a little unstable initially. Those knobs have a lot of play in them. When the tires are worn down a lot, I'm sure the tire will provide excellent grip.

Could someone tell me if 100/90x21 front tires will fit 2002 KLR? Also if 130/90x17 fit the rear wheel . I am going to run street tires. I have about 1700 miles on original rear and it shows wear. I do not think it will last much over 3000 miles. I ride on street and highway only. Thanks for any help. TC [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Who makes the 100/90? Yes, a 130/90 will fit. I've run two of them in the past. RM

120 is the width in mm (divide by 25.4 to get inches). 70 is the height as a percent of the width. Stock rear: 130/80 17 Stock front: 90/90 21 Is this not in the FAQ? -Bryan

Hey All, Need to replace the stock rear tire. I ride 80% street, 20% fireroads and want a tire that will last more than 3k. Price isn't as important to me as quality / durability and ability to go on some dirt. Do people like to IRC GP110, michelin sirac, metzler etc? TIA Philip A-15 Driver

Hello all: I understand that the Avon Gripsters will be re-released at the beginning of next year. In the meantime, I need some tires. Does anyone have experience with the Avon Distanzia? Judging from pictures provided at their website listed below, it looks like the Distanzia wouldn't have the bite the Gripster might have for offroad riding. I am looking for 80/20 onroad-offroad. I would appreciate any recommendations you all might have regarding experience with tires currently available. Thanks, Bob http://www.coopertire.com/avon_motorcycle/frames.htm

Hey Bob, I've had the Distanzias on my bike for about 3500 miles. ( You can see a picture of the front one on my bike in the next to last picture here: http://klr6500.tripod.com/ramps.htm ) For off-road riding they're fine in pretty much anything except mud, or at least they have been in *my* limited off-roading experience. ON-road, they can't be beat. My stock tires were unsafe at 3200 miles, these Distanzia tires still look new at about 3500 miles. They also stick like glue. I love twisties, and my riding friend on a Moto Guzzi V11 Sport lags pretty far behind... until the road straightens out again. (Grinning) *I* think you'd love them, UNLESS you frequently ride muddy trails. The Gripster has hardly any more off-road grip than a full street tire. I don't think that a Distanzia is going to be all that much different. They all suck if you need good control in the dirt...
