scuffed face shield "repair"??
Anyone try repairing the scuffs?
Scuffs and scratch's can give you a BIG head ache, when your eyes naturally keep trying to adjust Aperture, for near & far, AND Naturally trying to look around the scuffs.
Car Headlight buffer etc?
At $35-$50 each to replace because of scuffs gets pricey, and feels foolish, if there is a way to "repair"/clean-up instead of tossing.
YA! I'm Obsessed with repairing & SAVING things rather then calling worthless and tossing.

scuffed face shield "repair"??
I have had some success by using car wax to buff and polish scratched plastic shields. Or possibly even a polishing compound.

scuffed face shield "repair"??
I heard WD-40 was good for cloudy plastic headlight lenses on cars and by gum, it works for a while. Certainly cheap enough to repeat. For face shields, I dunno. I just use them well beyond the point of enjoyment then replace and toss. Cost of doing business I guess. Learning how to clean them without scratching and avoiding pawing at them with a glove while riding helps. The proper equipment to buff and polish the shields would cost more than a shield, or two.

Some auto wreckers polish lenses (headlight, tail light) and other used plastic parts in order to increase their value. While they aren't able to be sold at new price, the difference between headlights which are nicer than new, for example, seems to make the effort worth while. I had one of my tool customers, who worked for an auto wrecker, polish out some very deep and nasty scratches with results which were better than new. It can be done.
Headlight polish kits have too fine abrasive, IME, to cut out deep scratches but wet sanding with fine wet paper and moving up towards 2,000 grit and the polish works a treat. Big thing to watch, IME, is not to make enough heat to soften the plastic surface or dirt will be embeded.

Here is some more of my two cents....
I remember a ride from dallas tax, to Jackson hole Wyoming,
My helmet dropped during a refuel. Cracked the face shield.
I had to stare at a crazy glue repair for another 2000 miles.....
After about 600miles, I bought a new helmet.
I have tried to repair sunglass lenses and been unsatisfied.
I am one of those people who would be able to answer the question of life after death if I didn't have a good helmet. (That one was borrowed at the time)
So I don't mind spending some money on safety stuff.
But I could see repairing a face shield for in town riding...
I would probably still buy the replacement for road trips.....

2014 k750 tire & conflict oops i meen thread
The D606 never was the stock (OEM) tire on the KLR. It has been the K750 for many years now. This tire is only available from a Kawasaki dealer and is not sold from any major motorcycle parts distributor. The K750 is noted as being a mediocre tire that wears out faster than most. It wouldn t be a tire that I would want on my bike.

Hey Y'all I noticed today the stock tire is now a Dunlop K-750 rather than the D-606. Looks more street whats the opinions of those that HAVE used it? 606 "LOOKS" like a TCK-80 more dirt (65 D. 35 S. the K750 "LOOKS" more like the Metzler Sahara 3. 65 S./35 dirt I did not,... find them on Fred's web sight yet.

Just say No to face shields, Bubba and others. I feel like my head is in a fish tank when I lower and close one.
Hey .. you should be riding with a dual sport helmet anyway who wants to tour with lid that does not even sport a visor ? Dirt and dual sport helmets work great with googles or wrap-around sun glasses. I do carry a shield in my Givi in case of a long intense downpour; I haven't snapped it in for a long time now/years.
You'll appreciate the passing landscape more, as well ,when you don't deal with face shield refraction.

(said before) Riding along at 55-60 on the K1200lt (LRG windshield) Full face helmet cracked open slightly!! 1/2inch at bottom. AND very good fitting (very little gapping) wrap around glasses.
BIG BUG goes over the windshield, UNDER the faceshield and SPLATS on the bottom edge of the wrap Sun glasses.
GREEN CRAP FILLING the corner of my eye.
I LIKE, NO LOVE EYE PROTECTION!!!!!
