I recently traded my old KLR off for one the same year (07) that had on 3K miles. Unfortunately, the breaks sucked--even to the point of being dangerous. I have seen posting about inherent bad breaks on the KLR. Some suggested bigger breaklines and bigger disks. However, some said they had no problem with the KLR breaks. I put 25 K on my first KLR and had not thought the system was inferior. I did change the break pads once. After break-in, they did well.
Same thing with this bike with its sucky breaks (from stock shows, evidently). I ordered the "green" break disks from Fred, put them on and after a short break-in period they have me feeling safe and happy again.

Hey Norm Natural foods. Do you (SHE) know about the "Mother Earth Fair" (s) From Mother earth Magazine. Started a few yrs ago in Seven Springs Ski resort (SE of Pittsburgh) Now there are 4-5 NEXT WEEK is the PA show 3days? $25. Motels get pretty booked up, as do campgrounds but some areas still available. (I rode into the state park 4 days before the show and they had about 15-20 spots open On Friday, September 5, 2014 8:46 PM, "'Norm Keller' normkel32@... She's into natural foods and I had synthetic grease in the bearings. I'd have to repack them with organic natural non-GMO grease.
