eagle mike s mc mod : advance exh aust cam one tooth for

Post by achesley43@ymail.com » Thu Aug 14, 2014 7:17 am

Well, I needed to do the valves on my '00 KLR. So , did the Exhaust advance while I was putting the top back together after changing all 4 shims. Had been about 2 weeks since I had rode my KLR and after getting off my '07 Bandit, a KLR for sure don't feel fast.  LOL.Or feels like it has great brakes. ;-) But, The exhaust note for sure sounds different and seems to have a bit more compression braking. Idle was about the same speed. Runs fine and temp running the same as did before in our hot weather. As for as power increase in the 2.5 to 5 thousand rpm range. Kinda hard to judge by the seat of the pants. If I would not of rode the Bandit and just been off the KLR a few days , maybe I could judge the outcome more better. Hard to fault the dyno readings I saw while doing a bit of research on the Eagle Mike set up. But, I trust him to let people know if he's had a problem with it. I know I never had problems playing with cam advancement and retarding in the '70's on GS 750 Suzukis when we ran slotted sprockets to change the power delivery for different tracks.
