doo hickey & the big question?

Post by nakedwaterskier » Wed Jun 18, 2014 12:52 pm

One US Marine doohickey I opened up looked OK but upgraded anyways.  It seemed to be standard factory doohickey setup. The US Marine EngineI have in my bike now with about 3 or 4k miles on it; I haven't opened up the side case.  I am probably going to wait till probably till 10k miles and do valve adj and doohickey same time.  Jeffrey

Hey Jeff,

Don t you use a smart charger? I keep all my seasonal batteries on smart charger and they last years. I use the same smart charger for any size battery. I even use a smart charger on 2 6v golf cart batteries in series that I use on my trailer and they seem to last years doing this. I m a believer. Trickle chargers are no good for the very reason that they will boil the battery dry if you aren t very careful and regular which I know you are but I can t say as much about me.

Anonymous,

Probably a combination of charging all the time and not checking the fluid level.  RevMaaatin and I have both used Walmart batteries.  Usually they last 3 and sometimes 4 years in a KLR.
