commuter bag

Post by pwhatfourever@sbcglobal.net » Sun Jun 08, 2014 9:41 pm

Guys, I am looking for a better way to commute with my laptop and a few file folders. Currently, I am using a laptop bag that I strap to the luggage rack with two cris-crossed bungee cords. More than once, I have arrived at my destination, after ten miles partially over a bumpy asphalt road with one of the bungee cords unhooked. I have since added an inexpensive cargo net over the laptop and bungee cords, but it fits loosely and does little more than capture the bungee cords if they come unhooked. It is also inconvenient to load and unload. I am leaning toward a tail bag of some sort. Any recommendations? Thanks, Paul

Look into Kriega US10 or so. Will connect to nearly anything, easy to hook/unhook, water proof, very well made. It also comes with a shoulder strap for carrying the bag around. Plus the bag can be used for other moto needs, work, etc.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys, I am looking for a better way to commute with my laptop and a few file folders. Size of lap top?  I LOVE Rok-Straps.  Adjustable or Non-adjustable. I carry 3-4 sets of the adjustable.  (A combination of, a Bungee cord (nylon covered, so smooth) and Nylon Straps, with LOOPS. Sizes,.... EXAMPLE- 60" = 18" to 60" 3 things I love about them, Looped end, = NO SLIP.(Carabiner's if you like, for fast removal) Adjustable like many straps, AND with the constant tension of bungee, so if WHEN the load shifts or settles they stay snug. (as long as fairly close to start with)   Quick snap for leaving straps attached to bike (etc) and remove gear.  I,... LEAVE 1-2 sets strapped over the rear of my seat. Mark (West Mi.) commuter bag

I use the dell backpack that came with my laptop and that is working for me... Plus you get free added back protection!

It is also inconvenient to load and unload. I am leaning toward a tail bag of some sort. Any recommendations? Thanks, Paul

commuter bag

Oh, mark, you did ask for the laptop size. My work Lenovo laptop has a 14" screen, (diagnonally). It measures right at 9" by 13" by 5/8". My personal laptop is a 17". Not available to measure at the moment.   Paul From: "mark ward nomad59@... I use the $70 J.C. Whitney top case. Cheap, Tough, Waterproof. (but not sexy) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201653657679530&l=c6686234bd

Will connect to nearly anything, easy to hook/unhook, water proof, very well made. It also comes with a shoulder strap for carrying the bag around. Plus the bag can be used for other moto needs, work, etc.. ---------------------------------------------------------- Guys, I am looking for a better way to commute with my laptop and a few file folders. I use the GIVI B36N BUSINESS CASE but any quality large top case should give you secure weatherproof storage. I like the B36N as I can carry it in to school comfortably. Most cases are to wide to hump in from the parking lot with out banging in to my leg.  As this is a KLR list :-) I would consider a Pelican Case system for fashion reasons see. Pelican Case Motorcycle Luggage System - Topcase Kit (deluxe) - TwistedThrottle.com Pelican Case Motorcycle Luggage System - Topcase... I travel with my laptop often on the bike. I just use a good quality messenger style computer bag, never had a problem, just put it over your shoulder and let it rest on your back. Make sure to check the plastic connections regularly to make sure they don't crack or break, that is the week part. Michael
