Just don't ride it anymore. Check out the Craigslist Link......this bike is loaded, in great condition, ready for Alaska or South America. http://spokane.craigslist.org/mcy/4440582809.html Thanks George

need help again, one more issue

Post by skypilot110 » Sun May 18, 2014 8:32 pm

Got the 08 back together, Kawasaki finally got the shaft in. One issue left that I need help with.  When I tightened the rear axle the rear wheel began to drag. It feels like the bearings are out of possition so when I torque the axle it is pushing the inner races too far. I used aftermarket, Moose Racing, bearings and I noticed they had inner seals, dont remember the Kawassaki ones having them when they came out but they were not in great shape so not sure if that is true. It appears to be related to the wheel bearings and not the sprocket carrier bearing. When I tried to reseat the wleel bearings it got tight again. It turns but it scrubs. Anybody had this issue?  On the up side the rear suspension is all new and sports a 7.4Kg spring to get the sag right. Front was already done with Progressive, best upgrade I ever did. I leave Wed for the Roaming Rally so I need to get this right by Tuesday night

1st time I changed the rear tire on the klr, I OOPS, and had both brake pads on the same side of the rotor.(Are you sure its the bearings?)  On Sunday, May 18, 2014 9:32 PM, "christopher.eckert@... [DSN_KLR650]" DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

need help again, one more issue

Is the spacer between the sprocket hub and wheel hub in place?  These will fall out when you are not looking and the effect is exactly as you have described.  Driving your bike in this condition will ruin the bearings in short order.

Look around the shop to see where the spacer between the drive hub and wheel rolled off to...

Likely the most common cause.
