This is probably a long shot, but after an accident with a car, my KLR had a miss at anything over about 5000 rpm. I checked everything, even went so far as to buy a replacement black box. It turned out to be a cracked airbox. The impact from the car bent the subframe and ripped the airbox open. After I straightened the subframe and replaced the airbox it ran fine. So, maybe you have a leaky airbox? Paul Streeter
