Think Tea Kettle, heat from engine, warms the tank, about causing vapors = "Whistle". From: RobertWichert robert@... To: mark ward nomad59@...; Jeff Saline salinej1@... We went through this months ago. I found all of your pictures and based on the complicated nature of the ting, I bought a brand new one. The whistling doesn't cause any problems. The engine doesn't stall or stumble. It just whistles. What I can't figure out is why, for the love of money, it continues after I open the cap and reclose it WITH THE ENGINE OFF!!!!! Robert P. Engine heat? OK, could be, but the tank doesn't really get warm when riding. Maybe when it's stopped it gets warmer?
But still, if it's whistling OUT something is wrong. The vapor recovery is supposed to handle that, isn't it?

I wouldn't over think it. Some bikes whistle. Some don't.
If it runs fine, it runs fine. =) I bought a new 2006 CB900 (919) and it had oil seeping *through* a porous cylinder casting beside the cam chain galley.
I wished it only had a whistling fuel tank. (Fixed it with epoxy and engine paint.)

She'll be there April 6 - 27 with the US Team for the Junior/U-23 Canoe Slalom Worlds. I'll send the part with her, pro bono. I have since fixed it with an aluminium plate and cable ties. My question is - has anyone got a spare that they would like to part out, maybe someone has replaced it with the modified one. It's for a 2002 model not the later model that has a different lever. The part no is 46092-1123. I have checked Ebay and elsewhere but the postage costs from USA are prohibitive (read ridiculous) from all the normal suppliers. Cheers Glenn (Australia)
